Children's clothing needed!

As you know, I'll be headed to South Africa in two weeks! I'm so excited and my team is preparing for the trip and tackling last minute "to do" lists. I got an email from the host in South Africa, who works with AIDS/HIV orphanages and hospitals. She knows of a hospital in need of clothing for small children. I know that you have small children around the age requested so I wanted to see if you had any clothes you were preparing to take to Good Will that you would like to donate? Below is a list of things they are looking for right now. It is really cold there right now (their Winter). IF you have been Spring cleaning lately, let me know if you have any of the things lying around begging to be donated!

Thanks!!

Kids age range: 6 months to 6 years old…most of them in the 2-4 age category.
They could use some of the following items: 1) Socks, 2) Shoes, 3) Slippers, 4) Sweaters, 5) Jackets (fleece and thicker), 6) Stocking hats, 7) Track suits, and 8) Turtle necks.

Meeting Notes 3.30.08

Hannah’s Haven met today and it was one of the best meetings we’ve had thus far!! They seem to get better and better, huh? We’ve been really blessed with amazing professionals who are willing to come speak to the parents regarding topics of interest.

Today, Evelyn Kung (who some of you may already know from NewSong LA) conducted a Q&A session on behavior. She is a Behavioral Specialist (MA, BCBA), working for Center for Autism & Related Disorders, Inc. (CARD) in LA. Parents were able to ask questions and she quickly offered very practical and “doable” suggestions! As a therapist, I learned a lot as well and made a lot of mental notes. We all thoroughly enjoyed what she had to offer.

Evelyn was definitely a hit! She offered to come back on other days and speak specifically on topics requested by parents. So if you are a parent, please send me your “hot topics” and we will work on her return!

As a reminder, we are working with Noah’s Place to find “buddies” for you children with special needs. Please email me if you need a copy of the form to complete. I can email that to you and it can be returned to me and forwarded to Tracy, the children’s pastor.

We are planning the next meeting for APRIL 20. We are in the groove of meeting the last Sunday of the month, but I will be out of town the last weekend so I’m rearranging the schedule for April. May’s meeting will probably be the 3rd Sunday (May 18) as well since the last Sunday falls on Memorial Day weekend.

The prayer ministry also came! Thank you, Tina & Connie, for coming to pray with the parents. Prayer is an important part of this ministry! We are blessed once again by being able to utilize this ministry at NewSong!

Reminders:

  • Send me your “hot topics” for Evelyn
  • Email me if you are interested in having my small group babysit – FREE!
  • If you know someone who may be interested in attending a meeting or just finding out more information, please email me their information so I can contact them
